A woman in New York has posted a video saying she is on her way to housing court after living rent-free in Manhattan for seven years.
The clip spread on X after first appearing as a YouTube Short from @Nycdeadbeat212.
The on-screen text reads,
“POV: Headed to landlord-tenant court after living rent free in Manhattan for 7 years.”
This clown is actually bragging about living in Manhattan for seven years rent-free.
Seven. Years. No shame. None.
Just waking to court smirking like she pulled off some genius life hack while real people get crushed.

Some viewers on X tore into the video. One wrote,
“The law protects the criminal. She’s smiling because she knows her victim, the property owner, can’t do anything. The system is broken. Our justice system has failed.”
The woman’s case file and the outcome are not public in the coverage so far. New York nonpayment cases typically take many months to reach a warrant.
Long unpaid stays in New York are rare, but do happen.
Mickey Barreto lived rent-free at the New Yorker Hotel for about five years after a 2018 housing-court fight.
He later pleaded guilty to filing a false instrument after claiming he owned the building.
