A popular soap and deodorant brand has agreed to pay $9 million to settle claims that it misled customers by labeling products as natural despite containing synthetic ingredients.
The proposed settlement resolves the lawsuit against Dr. Squatch without any finding of wrongdoing by the company, which maintains its products were properly labeled.
U.S. consumers who bought covered products from the California-based company labeled natural between November 1, 2018 and August 29, 2026 can seek payment.
Payouts are calculated at $0.50 per product, with a maximum of $2.50 without proof of purchase and up to $10 with proof.
“The Parties have agreed to settle the Lawsuit, without any finding of wrongdoing or admission of liability by Dr. Squatch, as a compromise to avoid the burden, expense and uncertainty of further litigation.”
Claims must be filed by November 27, 2026, at the official settlement website.
Opt-outs and objections are due by October 13, 2026, with a final approval hearing set for March 2, 2027.
The $9 million fund will also cover attorney fees up to one-third, administration costs estimated at $475,000, and plaintiff incentives up to $40,000.
