Arizona food banks are receiving more than 2.1 million eggs this month from egg producers as part of a price-fixing settlement.
Attorney General Kris Mayes says Hickman’s Egg Ranch will deliver the eggs to St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, United Food Bank in Mesa and the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona in Tucson.
The allocations total more than 2.1 million eggs, with St. Mary’s receiving 1,318,860, United Food Bank getting 489,960, and the Tucson food bank slated for 361,080.
The deliveries follow a June 30th settlement after a multistate investigation with the U.S. Department of Justice found Cal-Maine Foods, Versova/Centrum and Hickman’s coordinated bids from June of 2022 to March of 2025 to lift a key egg price index.
The companies agreed to donate more than 53 million eggs nationwide and pay $3.3 million to the states.
Says Mayes,
“No Arizonan should have to choose between buying groceries and paying their bills because corporations decided to break the law for their own profit. These egg deliveries are a direct result of our office holding price-fixers accountable, and I’m proud that families across our state will see real relief on their tables this month.”
The eggs go out through more than 1,000 partner groups in the Arizona Food Bank Network.
