Florida Woman Allegedly Scams Elderly Victim, Hides Cash Inside Her Body

A Florida woman accused of posing as a bank representative to scam a senior citizen was arrested after deputies said they found $3,200 in cash hidden inside her body when she was taken to jail.

Moniquie Love Turnbull, 31, of Miami, allegedly showed up at a senior citizen’s home pretending to work for the victim’s bank, reports Fox News.

According to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Turnbull told the victim that their bank account had been compromised and attempted to obtain their debit or credit card, claiming she needed to dispose of it.

The victim became suspicious and contacted law enforcement.

While deputies were investigating, they received another report identifying Turnbull as a possible suspect in a similar case, authorities said.

Deputies later located Turnbull driving near Interstate 95 before she could leave Martin County. She was arrested during a traffic stop Monday, which was captured on bodycam video.

Turnbull faces charges of scheme to defraud, felony use of a two-way communication device, and fraudulent use of a credit or debit card without consent involving a victim age 60 or older.

But the case took another turn after Turnbull was brought to jail.

Authorities said she entered the facility carrying $3,200 in cash concealed inside her body.

Says the sheriff’s office,

“It’s not clear who the money was taken from, but for now, it’s accounted for and sealed in evidence. Keep in mind, at some point the cash will be back in public circulation.”

Turnbull now faces an additional charge of introducing contraband into a prison. Her bond was set at $500,000, according to authorities.
