Hyperliquid<\/a>\u2019s move into regulated investment products is gaining another piece of institutional infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Grayscale<\/a> has added BitGo Bank & Trust as an additional custodian for the Grayscale Hyperliquid Staking ETF, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.<\/p>\n

Under the arrangement, BitGo will provide custody and safekeeping services for a portion of the trust\u2019s HYPE holdings.<\/p>\n

At first glance, adding another custodian may look like a relatively technical fund update.<\/p>\n

It is more interesting when viewed in the context of where HYPE came from.<\/p>\n

Hyperliquid<\/a> grew as a crypto-native trading ecosystem, with its token closely tied to a decentralized perpetual futures platform rather than a conventional financial company.<\/p>\n

The existence of a publicly accessible staking<\/a> ETF built around HYPE represents a very different stage of market development.<\/p>\n

Custody arrangements are a critical part of that transition.<\/p>\n

Exchange-traded crypto<\/a> products need institutional systems for holding their underlying assets, managing operational risks and satisfying the requirements attached to public securities.<\/p>\n

Those requirements become more complicated when a fund does more than passively hold a token.<\/p>\n

A staking product must also account for how assets interact with network validation, how rewards are treated and how liquidity is maintained while some holdings may be committed to staking activity.<\/p>\n

Adding an additional regulated custodian can give a sponsor greater operational flexibility and reduce dependence on a single custody provider.<\/p>\n

Grayscale has been building similar structures across a widening range of crypto assets as the ETF market moves well beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.<\/p>\n

That expansion is changing what counts as institutional crypto infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Several years ago, the challenge was simply finding a regulated custodian willing and able to hold Bitcoin.<\/p>\n

The market is now constructing custody, staking and fund-administration systems around increasingly specialized proof-of-stake assets.<\/p>\n

Hyperliquid is one of the clearest examples of that evolution.<\/p>\n

HYPE remains closely associated with a trading ecosystem born entirely on-chain, yet the asset is now being fitted into the same legal and operational machinery used for exchange-traded investment products.<\/p>\n
