As AI agents begin booking travel, buying data and renting computing power on their own, BlackRock argues, they will need payment systems that run around the clock and can handle transactions worth fractions of a cent.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">NEW: $15 trillion BlackRock says AI agents may choose to save in <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/Bitcoin?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Bitcoin<\/a> for &#8220;long-term value preservation&#8221; <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f440.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udc40\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These findings \u2026 point to a potential AI-native monetary architecture in which stablecoins serve as transactional money and bitcoin as a store of value.&#8221; <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f44f.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udc4f\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/utJHYuTkGJ\">pic.twitter.com\/utJHYuTkGJ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/2107442219368202565?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">October 6, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs AI agents become more capable and as their real-world applications expand, they increasingly demand payment and asset infrastructure designed natively for machine-speed commerce,\u201d the report read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cCrypto-native blockchain rails are particularly well suited to high-frequency, sub-cent, machine-to-machine transactions that take place around-the-clock, including API calls, on-demand data, and consumption based compute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It added that the Bitcoin Policy Institute research found that \u201ccontrolled simulations generally favored stablecoins for everyday payments and bitcoin for long-term value preservation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs AI adoption broadens and agentic systems become more capable, digital<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">assets could become increasingly integral to AI\u2019s economic infrastructure, expanding utility across stablecoins, tokenized RWAs, and native cryptoassets that support blockchain settlement,\u201d the report noted.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">BlackRock has long praised Bitcoin and other crypto apps that utilize its technology, like the tokenization of assets.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Securities and Exchange Commission in 2024 approved BlackRock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/blackrock-bitcoin-etf-is-beating-vanguard\">iShares Bitcoin Trust<\/a>,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">which has since attracted the most investment and trading volume out of all U.S. bitcoin ETFs.
