President Donald Trump is pitching direct \u201cdividend\u201d payments to people who live near data centers as a way to share the boom from AI infrastructure buildouts.<\/p>\n

The comments came Tuesday after he hosted technology leaders at the White House.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe people are going to benefit directly, whether its teachers that get paid a bonus, whether its people that live in the community that get paid a dividend you could call it a dividend because a dividend sounds right, they are going to greatly benefit by what\u2019s happened.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cData centers are bringing in a tremendous amount of money into the community, and the people now are going to benefit directly.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Trump also rebranded artificial intelligence as \u201csuper intelligence,\u201d calling AI a \u201cfake word,\u201d and announced the launch of America.gov, an AI-powered portal for federal services.<\/p>\n

The White House meeting included Jeff Bezos, Jensen Huang, Greg Brockman, Dario Amodei, Satya Nadella, Elon Musk, Nikesh Arora and Brad Gerstner.<\/p>\n

Similar dividend-style ideas for communities near data centers have been floated by other lawmakers facing local pushback over the projects.<\/p>\n
