A major U.S. bank is rolling out new rails that let businesses move between traditional bank money and stablecoins without juggling separate crypto systems.<\/p>\n

Citi and Coinbase expanded their collaboration with two U.S.-first products that connect fiat banking to stablecoin payments, says<\/a> Citi.<\/p>\n

Coinbase Virtual Accounts use Citi\u2019s Virtual Account Wallet so payments customers get bank-account-like features, with incoming fiat automatically converted into stablecoins.<\/p>\n

Spring by Citi lets institutional clients accept stablecoin payments at checkout through Coinbase Payments, with automatic conversion to fiat and Citi settling as the bank of record.<\/p>\n

Merchants can reach more than 150 million stablecoin holders without holding, custodying or managing digital assets themselves, according to the release.<\/p>\n

Coinbase\u2019s Alec Lovett, head of infrastructure product, addressed why the bank link matters.<\/p>\n

\u201cClients building on Coinbase have always needed a fast, compliant bridge between fiat and stablecoins, and Citi gives us that at scale.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The push builds on an earlier October 2025 partnership and comes as U.S. and EU stablecoin rules keep tightening.<\/p>\n
