An Illinois community hospital is preparing to hand hundreds of thousands of dollars to patients whose private information may have been exposed in a data breach.<\/p>\n

Roseland Community Hospital Association has agreed to a $650,000 class action settlement<\/a> covering about 101,354 people after unauthorized access to its IT network.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit alleges negligence after an unauthorized party accessed and acquired patient files on June 2nd of 2024.<\/p>\n

Exposed data may have included names, addresses, dates of birth, medical record numbers, health insurance details, diagnoses, treatment information and Social Security numbers for some patients.<\/p>\n

Roseland denies wrongdoing and says it settled to avoid the cost and uncertainty of further litigation.<\/p>\n

Class members can claim up to $5,000 for documented losses tied to the breach, an estimated $50 pro rata cash payment and one year of free medical records monitoring with up to $1 million in identity theft insurance.<\/p>\n

Claims must be filed by December 31st of 2026, with a final approval hearing set for January 6th of 2027.<\/p>\n
