Thousands of Michigan residents are opening new enhanced driver\u2019s licenses and state IDs that show the same unknown man\u2019s photo and a fake birthdate instead of their own details.<\/p>\n

About 8,200 people who applied for or renewed the documents were hit by the production mix-up, reports<\/a> the New York Post.<\/p>\n

State officials say vendor Idemia printed a one-day batch that used placeholder images and dates in place of real cardholder information.<\/p>\n

The photo and birthdate are generic stand-ins and do not belong to any Michigan resident.<\/p>\n

Corrected cards have already been mailed free of charge to everyone affected.<\/p>\n

Anyone who needs a document right away can pull a temporary version online or visit a Secretary of State office.<\/p>\n

The cards were enhanced versions meant for federal uses such as air travel.<\/p>\n

Officials say the mistake was limited to the printed face and birthdate and do not point to a broader personal-data breach.<\/a><\/p>\n
