President Trump is pledging a $5,000 payment to every adult U.S. citizen if Republicans win control of both the House and Senate.<\/p>\n

The promise came in Trump\u2019s speech at the Republican Midterm Convention in Dallas, which focused largely on the administration\u2019s economic agenda.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Republicans win, you win with us and you get $5,000. It will be called the Trump dividend.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Trump says the payment would go to every adult citizen with one condition, that the funds must be spent in the United States.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in the United States of America for $5,000. But the only condition on the payment of this dividend that we\u2019re going to be making, so it\u2019s $5,000 to every adult. The only caveat I have is that the dividend that we\u2019re making must be spent in the United States of America.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The proposal echoes earlier free check ideas from the President, including a suggested $5,000 DOGE dividend and a $1,776 warrior dividend paid to more than 1 million service members earlier this year.<\/p>\n

No details on funding, legality or implementation were provided in the remarks.<\/p>\n
