An assisted living facility caregiver in Ohio is accused of making unauthorized ATM withdrawals from a blind elderly resident\u2019s bank account.<\/p>\n

The 86-year-old victim resided at The Inn in Joshua Tree senior living campus in North Olmsted, reports<\/a> Local 12.<\/p>\n

Westlake police launched the probe after the victim\u2019s sister noticed the suspicious activity and contacted authorities.<\/p>\n

Bank records showed five separate $500 withdrawals at a Citizens Bank branch in Westlake.<\/p>\n

Surveillance footage from the bank captured the same individual making the transactions while wearing a mask and sometimes medical scrubs.<\/p>\n

Facility management helped identify the suspect as a night-shift nursing aide who cared for the resident.<\/p>\n

Police noted the victim often left her purse accessible in her room.<\/p>\n

The aide was fired from her position and arrested on charges of felony theft and misuse of a credit card.<\/p>\n

Authorities say a conviction could carry enhanced penalties due to the victim\u2019s age and disability.<\/p>\n
