A vote will now go ahead in September. The bill will establish a framework for distinguishing between digital assets that are securities, commodities or payment stablecoins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-x wp-block-embed-x\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">BREAKING: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/17.0.2\/72x72\/1f1fa-1f1f8.png\" alt=\"\ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8\" class=\"wp-smiley\" \/> President Trump when asked if the U.S. plans to accumulate sizable amounts of Bitcoin:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Certainly it&#8217;s been talked about. It&#8217;s take a lot of pressure off the dollar. It&#8217;s been very, very good for the dollar. and I think if you came in with recommendations I would\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/NnWFHi51nT\">pic.twitter.com\/NnWFHi51nT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/2090162228641010060?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 19, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019re ensuring that America remains the undisputed leader in not only Bitcoin and crypto, but also technologies like prediction markets, artificial intelligence and much more,\u201d President Trump said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He added: \u201cNow we need Congress to take the next step by passing the Clarity Act \u2014 a fair version of the Clarity Act \u2014 and this landmark structure legislation. It\u2019s a very, very powerful structured legislation which will keep us ahead of China, and keep us ahead of everyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked if the U.S. government would be accumulating bitcoin, President Trump said: \u201cIt\u2019s been talked about \u2014 it\u2019s taken a lot of pressure off the dollar, it\u2019s been very, very good for the dollar, and I think if [regulators] came in with recommendations, I would certainly listen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Trump signed an executive order to establish a strategic bitcoin reserve last year. The order states that the U.S. cannot sell any of the bitcoin it has, most of which has been seized in law enforcement operations. But the EO does not commit to buying the asset.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nevertheless, the president has recently spoken highly of bitcoin: Just last week, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=T9omos50y8k&amp;t=1684s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a> in an interview with Punchbowl News that \u201cyou see people paying with bitcoin and they don\u2019t even know about cash anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite being passed by the House of Representatives last year, the Clarity Act has been in a deadlock for most of this year after the banking lobby clashed with lawmakers and crypto businesses over whether platforms like Coinbase should be able to pay customers yield.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some lawmakers have sought to change wording in the bill regarding ethics.
