A major cannabis company is preparing to dole out millions of dollars to customers affected by a significant data breach.<\/p>\n

STIIIZY agreed to a proposed $2.95 million class action settlement resolving<\/a> claims that it failed to prevent an October 2024 data breach that compromised the personally identifiable information or health records of customers.<\/p>\n

The lawsuit was launched because the company allegedly maintained inadequate security measures that allowed unauthorized access to sensitive customer data.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Class includes all persons whose personally identifiable information or private health information (collectively \u2018Private Information\u2019) was accessed, compromised, or stolen in the Data Security Incident announced by Defendant on January 7, 2025. There is also a subclass that includes all persons who were residents of California when doing business with Defendant, whose Private Information was accessed, compromised, or stolen in the Data Security Incident announced by Defendant on January 7, 2025.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Individuals whose information was stolen may claim cash payments or reimbursements for related losses on a pro-rata basis. California residents are entitled to receive twice the pro rata cash payments of other class members. Meanwhile, class members with documented losses can receive awards of up to $7,500.<\/p>\n

Free credit monitoring services are also included for all participants as part of the resolution.<\/p>\n

Eligible class members can submit a claim on or before September 10th using the settlement portal<\/a>. The deadline to opt out or object is August 26th.<\/p>\n

The final approval hearing is slated for October 19th.<\/p>\n

The company denies all wrongdoing but agreed to the resolution to avoid further litigation.<\/p>\n
