A California couple has discovered $17,450 missing from their Chase checking account after an ATM visit revealed the fraud.<\/p>\n

The couple found three fake checks totaling around $6,450 and 17 fraudulent online bill payments adding up to over $11,000 on their statement, reports<\/a> ABC7.<\/p>\n

The pair had recently ordered new checks from a third-party printing company, which appears to have exposed their account details through the mailed voided check.<\/p>\n

They rushed to the bank the next day to close the account after seeing the suspicious transactions, including payments to Verizon Wireless and credit cards not theirs.<\/p>\n

The bank initially provided limited information on how the fraud occurred and required proof for some claims, leading to frustration over denied access to other banks for verification.<\/p>\n

ABC7\u2019s 7 On Your Side investigated and helped recover the full amount after Chase refunded the checks promptly but needed documentation for the rest.<\/p>\n
