Retail traders, by contrast, have been squeezed to just 8.4% of outflow activity on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>The gap is striking. And it isn\u2019t limited to Binance \u2014 across all centralized exchanges combined, whale-driven outflows have climbed to 90.5%, the highest reading recorded since 2024. Retail participation across those same platforms has slipped to roughly 9%, its lowest point in the same period.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-894999 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbtc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/a_aa664f.png?resize=933%2C523\" alt=\"\" width=\"933\" height=\"523\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The numbers paint a picture of a market where small traders have largely stepped back, leaving the heavy movement to bigger players who rarely show their hand.<\/p>\n<h2>Exchange Reserves Shrinking Fast<\/h2>\n<p>Separate data flagged by market watcher Xaif Crypto shows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coingecko.com\/en\/coins\/xrp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">XRP<\/a> reserves on Binance are falling at a pace not seen since March. Reports indicate that institutional interest in XRP has been climbing, and two straight days of positive <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coinglass.com\/etf\/xrp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ETF flows<\/a> suggest that appetite has not cooled.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" class=\"wp-image-895000 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbtc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/a_243095.png?resize=932%2C525\" alt=\"\" width=\"932\" height=\"525\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<p>What The Data Doesn\u2019t Confirm<\/p>\n<p>Still, outflows don\u2019t tell the whole story. Data shows that whale withdrawals can reflect several different moves \u2014 long-term storage, transfer between wallets, or repositioning across platforms.<\/p>\n<p>None of those necessarily means buying. Back then, retail participation spiked to around 2% dominance just as XRP approached its record high near $3.66.<\/p>\n<p>That surge in smaller-player activity was followed by a price drop of more than 60%. Today\u2019s market looks structurally different, with large holders driving nearly all movement.
