The U.S. Department of Justice says a 22-year-old California man has been sentenced for his role in $263 million crypto crime enterprise.<\/p>\n

The DOJ says<\/a> Evan Tangeman of Newport Beach pleaded guilty to laundering at least $3.5 million of stolen digital assets.<\/p>\n

Tangeman, known online as \u201cE,\u201d \u201cTate,\u201d and \u201cEvan|Exchanger,\u201d converted stolen cryptocurrency into cash.<\/p>\n

He rented luxury homes while receiving exotic cars as payment, including a Lamborghini Urus arranged by a co-defendant. Agents seized a Rolls-Royce Ghost and a Porsche GT3 RS from his home.<\/p>\n

U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro said the scheme showed \u201cgreed so brazen it borders on the cartoonish.\u201d<\/p>\n

Members spent the stolen money on nightclub tabs up to $500,000 an evening, luxury watches, handbags, clothing, private jets, security guards, and exotic cars.<\/p>\n

The enterprise began no later than October 2023 and ran through at least May 2025.<\/p>\n

It started with friendships formed on online gaming platforms and included members in California, Connecticut, New York, Florida, and abroad.<\/p>\n

Tangeman will spend 70 months in prison with three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n

He is the ninth person to plead guilty in the case.<\/p>\n
