A US financial regulator says a bank insider withdrew a massive pile of cash from a senior citizen\u2019s account without the customer\u2019s consent.<\/p>\n

The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) says<\/a> Marissa Murillo committed the offense over a two-year period while working as an associate banker at the Bank of Montreal\u2019s Chicago branch.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring the period from January 2023 to November 2024, Respondent made multiple unauthorized debits from an elderly customer\u2019s account for her own personal use and the use of her family members. <\/em><\/p>\n

As a result of Respondent\u2019s misconduct, the Bank suffered a loss of $164,918.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Due to Murillo\u2019s alleged actions, the OCC says it is prohibiting the former Bank of Montreal associate banker from participating in \u201cany manner in the conduct\u201d of affairs of federally-insured banks and other financial institutions that are regulated by federal banking agencies for an indefinite period.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy reason of the foregoing conduct, Respondent violated the law, which resulted in financial gain to Respondent and a financial loss to the Bank, and involved personal dishonesty.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Murillo has consented to the prohibition order without either denying or admitting any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n
