A US bank vice president has admitted to using sensitive customer information to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars from his employer.<\/p>\n

The US Attorney\u2019s Office in the Western District of Oklahoma says<\/a> InterBank vice president and loan officer, Timothy Abercrombie, used the privileged information belonging to InterBank customers to prepare fraudulent applications for loans.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the loans were approved, he deposited the proceeds into checking accounts that he controlled, which were opened in the customers\u2019 names, all without their knowledge or consent. <\/em><\/p>\n

As a result of the scheme, InterBank suffered a loss of more than $800,000.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Abercrombie worked at InterBank in Kingfisher, Oklahoma, between May of 2019 and February of 2024, and the charges against him were filed a month before he pleaded guilty.<\/p>\n

He will now serve 18 months in federal prison on the charges of bank fraud after receiving sentencing this week.<\/p>\n

Abercrombie will also undergo 36 months of supervised release. He has also been ordered to pay $874,893.39 in restitution.<\/p>\n

InterBank is headquartered in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and boasts approximately $5.2 billion in total assets.<\/p>\n
